ZBC News is a modern digital news platform focused on delivering breaking news, current affairs, political updates, international news, and in-depth stories. The platform includes key features such as Top Headlines, Most Read articles, search functionality, daily newsletters, advertisements, category-based news, and content discovery based on different time periods. It also supports multimedia content such as news articles, videos, audio, and podcasts.
The challenge
The main challenge was to build and maintain a scalable, content-driven news platform that could efficiently manage a large volume of editorial content while providing a fast and user-friendly experience. The system needed to support breaking news, Most Read tracking, advertisements, newsletters, category-based content, multimedia publishing, search, and dynamic homepage sections. Another key challenge was ensuring that editorial features such as content scheduling, publishing workflows, timestamps, homepage filtering, and responsive layouts worked consistently across both desktop and mobile devices. The platform also required an architecture capable of handling continuously changing news content without compromising performance or usability.
